SAFETY DISCLAIMER — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. ASTRA provides statistical, modelled risk information for general awareness only. It is NOT a real-time crime feed, NOT a prediction that any place is safe or unsafe, and NOT a personal security service. Risk scores are statistical estimates about geographic areas derived from historical data; they cannot and do not predict individual events. A low-risk indication is not an assurance of safety, and a high-risk indication is not an assertion that harm will occur. ASTRA is not a substitute for your own judgment, situational awareness, or official guidance. ASTRA is not an emergency service and cannot summon help: in an emergency, call 112 (EU) or your local emergency number.

Terms & Conditions

1. These Terms and your agreement with us

Provider: ASTRAnavi Ltd, a private company limited by shares registered in England and Wales (company no. 17316936),

Registered office 128, City Road, London (“ASTRA”, “we”, “us”).

Contact: legal@astranavi.net

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your download and use of the ASTRA mobile application and the astranavi.net website (together, the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form an agreement between you and ASTRAnavi Ltd only — not with Apple Inc. (see Section 14). Our Privacy Policy (astranavi.net/privacy) explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to accept these Terms. The Service is currently offered for the city of Milan, Italy, and may be downloaded in other regions; we make no commitment that content is relevant outside covered cities.

3. What ASTRA is and what it is not

ASTRA displays a street-level safety information map for covered cities, built from modelled, aggregated crime-risk data licensed from professional data providers, together with optional walking directions that display how a route intersects mapped risk zones.

Directions provided in the app are generated by third-party routing technology and are suggestions only. We do not warrant that any route is safe, lawful, passable, or optimal. You are solely responsible for your own safety and for complying with traffic and pedestrian rules.

4. Incident report feature

The current version of the app includes an incident report interface provided in preparation for future community features. Reports submitted through this interface are not transmitted to us, are not stored, are not reviewed by any person, and do not trigger any response of any kind. Do not use it to seek help or to report crimes or emergencies — contact the police or emergency services. When community reporting launches, Section 9 will apply and the in-app interface will say so explicitly.

5. Your licence to use the Service

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not:

  • copy, scrape, extract, harvest, or redistribute the risk data, map data, or any substantial part of the Service's content, whether manually or by automated means;

  • use the Service or its data to build, train, or improve a competing product or dataset;

  • reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app except as permitted by law;

  • resell, rent, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties commercially (institutional access requires a separate written agreement with us);

  • use the Service unlawfully, or in a way that could harm the Service or other users, including probing or disrupting our infrastructure;

  • use the Service to harass, target, stigmatise, or discriminate against any person, group, or neighbourhood, including in lettings, lending, insurance, or employment decisions.

6. Intellectual property and data sources

The Service, including the ASTRA name, logo, design, and software, is owned by ASTRA NAVI LTD or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Map content is © Mapbox and © OpenStreetMap contributors and subject to their terms. Crime-risk data is licensed from MineCrime S.r.l. and remains the property of its owner; it is provided for display within the Service only. No rights are granted to you other than the licence in Section 5. Feedback you send us may be used by us without obligation to you.

7. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party services, including Mapbox (maps and routing) and Apple (distribution). Your use of the app must also comply with applicable third-party terms, including the App Store Terms of Service and Mapbox's acceptable-use terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and their availability may affect the Service.

8. Paid subscriptions

ASTRA may offer an enhanced paid tier (“Navigator”). Prices, features, and billing periods will be shown in the app before purchase. All consumer purchases are processed by Apple as In-App Purchases under your Apple ID; we do not receive or store your payment details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, via your Apple ID subscription settings.

8.1 Tiers and billing

8.2 Right of withdrawal (EU/UK consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a paid subscription without giving a reason. Where you request immediate access to paid features, you expressly consent to performance beginning at once and acknowledge that, once the digital service has been fully performed, or where you have consumed proportionate value, your refund may be reduced or (for fully delivered one-off digital content) lost. Withdrawal and refunds for In-App Purchases are administered through Apple; we will also honour withdrawal requests sent to legal@astranavi.net. An in-app withdrawal/cancellation function will be provided as required by EU law from June 2026.

8.3 Changes to pricing

We may change subscription prices for future billing periods with at least 30 days' notice in the app. If you do not accept a change, cancel before it takes effect; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

9. User content and community reports (applies only once community features launch)

When community reporting launches, the following will apply to content you submit (“User Content”):

  • You retain ownership of your User Content and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, aggregate, anonymise, display, and distribute it within the Service and to improve the Service.

  • You must not submit content that is false or misleading, identifies or accuses any individual, contains personal data of others, is defamatory, discriminatory, or unlawful, or reports events you did not witness.

  • Community reports are unverified accounts by users, not statements of fact by ASTRA. We may — but are not obliged to — review, moderate, label, or remove User Content, and we may suspend accounts of users who abuse reporting features.

  • Community reports are not monitored in real time and do not summon assistance. Emergencies must be reported to 112 or local emergency services.

  • We are a hosting provider for User Content within the meaning of applicable intermediary-liability law (including the EU Digital Services Act); notice-and-action mechanisms will be provided in-app.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided free of charge in its current version and we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Risk data is updated periodically, not in real time, and covered areas may change. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time; where changes materially reduce a paid feature, Section 8 notice rules apply.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms affects statutory rights that consumers have under the law of their country of residence, including under the Italian Consumer Code (D.Lgs. 206/2005) and the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, which cannot be waived by contract.

12. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Subject to the paragraph above: we are not liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on risk scores, heatmap displays, routes, or any safety-related information in the Service, all of which is statistical and informational only; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data; and our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to (a) £100, or (b) if you have a paid subscription, the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is greater. If you are a consumer, these limits apply only to the extent permitted by the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence.

13. Indemnity

If you are not a consumer, you agree to compensate us for losses, costs, and claims arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Service. If you are a consumer, you are responsible for damage we suffer that is caused by your intentional or negligent breach of these Terms, to the extent provided by applicable law.

14. Apple App Store terms

These Terms are concluded between you and ASTRA navi Ltd only, not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). The following terms are required by Apple and apply to app downloads from the App Store:

  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; we are solely responsible for the app and its content.

  • In the event of the app's failure to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.

  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, regulatory non-conformity, and consumer-protection claims.

  • In case of third-party claims that the app infringes intellectual-property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for their investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge.

  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.

  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

  • You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app.

15. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or where we discontinue the Service, giving reasonable notice where practicable and, for consumers, refunding any prepaid amounts for undelivered paid periods. Sections 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16 survive termination.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to the following consumer protections: if you are a consumer resident in the European Union (including Italy) or the United Kingdom, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. We will consider alternative dispute resolution in good faith; contact legal@astranavi.net first and we will try to resolve any issue directly.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves (for example, when paid tiers or community reporting launch). Material changes will be notified in the app at least 15 days before taking effect; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, and if you disagree you must stop using the Service. The current version is always available at astranavi.net/terms.

18. General

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remainder remains in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor of our business with notice. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. The English version prevails over any translation.
